Only You by Melanie Harlow

5.0

Can you find a better story teller than Melanie Harlow? She can create a world that sucks me in and holds me stranded for hours as I fall in love with her characters. This first in the One and Only series has me looking for more. Nate is a divorce lawyer, slightly jaded with the idea of commitment. Across the hall, Emme is a wedding planner and in love with love. These two are great friends, hanging out together, watching moves, bickering over the simplest of things, but never have crossed that line of intimacy. Now Nate is faced with the surprise of being a father, and who does he turn to? These two are the sweetest together. Nate is incredibly attractive with his ignorance of being a father. Who knew babies were so much work and needed so many things! Emme is a lifesaver, but more than that, she is his partner. Their attraction to each other is palpable, but that niggling feeling of commitment has Nate on edge. Melanie Harlow really melds this story so well with so many real life situations, it's a pleasure to listen to. From agoraphobia to postpartum depression to single parenting the story flows with circumstances that we can all relate to in some way and makes the listen that much more enjoyable.

Stephen Dexter and Lauren Enzo are perfect for the dual narration of this book. Stephen gives Nate that cocky arrogance until he is given his daughter. He softens so incredibly and the performance gives you all the feels that Nate is going through. Lauren plays Emme to a T! I loved her voice, feeling Emme's love, frustration and motherly feel all through the story. It's a great listen and I can't wait for book 2!
