Deaf Utopia: A Memoir—and a Love Letter to a Way of Life by Nyle DiMarco

emotional funny informative fast-paced

5.0

I personally don't know anyone who is Deaf and I really enjoyed learning about Deaf culture from a first hand account. Nyle's humour and big personality comes through in his writing which made it such a fun read. The fact that Nyle comes from a multigenerational family of Deaf people that loved and found joy in being Deaf and a part of Deaf culture, really highlights how being surrounded by this unconditional love and support leads to happier and more confidant individuals. That even when Nyle faces struggles and discrimination he knows it a failing of society and not him and that he can count on his family and friends to help him out.
