Again, but Better by Christine Riccio
5.0
I loved this book so damn much. I had quite a lackluster experience at university myself and this book made me wish I went on that exchange so much!
Would like to start with mentioning Shane is 20. That makes this book New Adult, not Young Adult. Recognise the NA genre cause I want more!
This book was super relatable with Shane’s anxiety about getting out of her comfort zone and trying new things (and also her fangirlingness!). It was also super cute with all it’s rom-comness; and I definitely got emotional at the end because I was so proud of our main character, and of Christine herself as I’ve been following her for years.
Again, But Better was one of those books that just magically clicked with me. I felt super connected with the story and loved all the little things that made me go ‘I did that in 2011 too!’ or ‘Yes, ____ reference!’ Here’s a list of some of my faves:
1. FrenchWatermelon19. I see you PolandBananas20
2. “The framing’s a little wonky” when she gets someone else to take a photo. Feels, I gotta teach everyone around me how to frame a photo
3. Professor Blackstairs! Ha!
4. Shane was reading Shadow Kiss! Here for any Vampire Academy reference!
5. She downloaded Angry Birds onto her iPod. Angry Birds is still downloaded on MY iPod
I loved how this book wrapped up, and focused not just on the romance, but on Shane learning to pursue what she loves, not just what her parents expect from her. As soon as I finished the book I opened up my neglected blog myself and started working on it.
I loved this book so much and am here for anything Christine writes in the future.
