Writting a review after a second read. I first read last year and i loved it but i was a bit less critical and the recording at the end sold the story to me and rated it 5 stars. I'm a extremely visual reader and in my re-read i could imagine Lionel and David as Paul Mescal and Josh O'Connor and loved it even more but in a different way. I rated it lower now because I didn't get everything in my first read, but that's on me! Still a great short story that I'm sure will make for a really good movie.

The History of Sound is a story about two young american men, music students, who met in a pub in 1916 (right in the middle of world war I) and they fall in love and make a trip recording folk music sang by regular people in the country side. The tale is told by old Lionel, reminiscing about his love and his life after him.
