This Is Our Story by Ashley Elston

3.0

This will be a good book to recommend to my mystery-loving students who don't require an action-packed plot but like a contemporary whodunit with characters their age. I liked that the author included interview 'transcripts' and chapters told from the killer's perspective that were interspersed throughout the Kate's narrative. My main issue with this novel is that it was hard to believe that a prosecutor (even from a small town) would allow a high schooler access to confidential legal documents and information, especially relating to a murder of one of her peers. (Teen readers may be less bothered by that since they might see themselves in Kate...) The ending was satisfying, however, and the last few chapters kept me guessing.
