All Three Stooges by Erica S. Perl

3.0

A really touching story, and often entertaining (if not a bit annoying- though I understand I’m not exactly the target audience). Also.... WAY too many worshipful nods to Woody Allen. The book literally ends on a Woody Allen reference. No thanks. Between that and some of the “comedy” being a bit too much and crowded (especially at the beginning) lands it at 2.75 stars, rounded to three. I wish I could have liked it more! I think it does a good job of chronicling a young overactive tween’s fumbling as he deals with the death of his best friends father, his own grief, and how to navigate his friend’s. Unfortunately, these strengths are overshadowed for me by the issues above.
