A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas

5.0

This book didn't really interest me all that much until the main characters had met, but wow I really didn't realize what I was getting myself into.

It should be known that although TOG and ACOTAW take place in the same world, they have two separate themes, at least in my opinion they do. I enjoyed both but some readers of Maas' other series might not see the same appeal here.

This whole series was fantastic and its first entry is a Beauty and the Beast retelling with some twists. Tamlin and Feyre's relationship is very complex at first, they really don't know how to feel about the other until like halfway through the book, but I like that aspect of it. Some authors tend to love writing those "Insta-love" relationships and it just makes it feel less authentic.....(even though this is a fantasy novel, so how authentic can it really be, but you get what I'm saying).

A Court of Thorns and Roses takes several turns and doesn't end how you would expect it to. The series as a whole continues with this pattern and it's a fantastic and emotional ride that becomes addicting after the first few chapters. I say that about a lot of books, but it's genuinely true on them all.

In short, at least pick it up sometime and give it a shot. It's worth it.
