now this was a doozy. I really needed something good, something with guaranteed happiness after a crappy day. but this book just pissed me all the way off
it had so much potential. I liked the writing, the banter, the chaos, the side characters, etc. BUT the only thought that kept racing thru my mind anytime Callie did anything was,,
STAND UP!!!
this woman was on her HANDS AND KNEES,, NO, SHE WAS BENEATH THE EARTH'S CRUST, LICKING THIS DUDES BOOTS FROM BENEATH THE GROUND

Ralston would literally do or say some of the most deplorable, downright foul things and Callie would be like "omg,,, i made such a mess of things! I'm so plain, why doesn't he like me... I've loved him for a decade." immediately no. just no.
when Callie finally told Ralston about their first meeting a decade ago when he first called her empress and he's like "lol I don't remember that"... idk why I was shocked but I thought MAYBE he could be redeemed somehow. maybe he HAD remembered and had harbored some subconscious pining for her ever since. that would have made this book slightly more bearable. but he literally did not remember her, and this scene was in the epilogue
