The Korean War: A History
by Bruce Cumings
challenging
informative
reflective
sad
medium-paced
Very sad book, makes you wish that large powers like the US didn't get involved in other people's business. Did find some parts of it were a little bit unapproachable because I don't really know much about the structure of American military. I'm not a historian so I don't really know how to judge things, but it seemed to be a really well nuanced book. Even at a South killed more innocent people, The north isn't without crimes either. And it also makes you hate the saturation bombing tactics that America used consistently. So many civilians killed for what? When people talk about institutions needing to have empathy, This is a great example.
The book did its job well and made me interested in learning more about some of the individual topics, Which may be one of the best compliments. You can give a book like this from a layman.

The depictions of what happened to the Korean people were not numerous, but they were explicit in there horror.
