The story's commitment to xenobiology elevates this book from a very good YA Drama turned Xenomorph Slaughter to a great YA Drama turned Xenomorph Slaughter. It's a great additional vector for the narrative to engage with the Xenomorphs, make the planet a little more than just backdrop and give the kids a fighting chance.
