Although the art style was not my favorite, I really enjoyed this read. I loved how selfless all of the characters are and how they love and support each other. I thought Jacks' characterization was creative since she is a witch-hermit who works with bones, but she is so kind and really flips the stereotype on its head. I also liked how queerness was readily accepted including Jacks and Jessie's relationship, Lulu's transition, and Snap not following gender norms while still identifying as a girl. I am glad that younger kids have books like this to validate their own identities and to explore this magical realistic world.
I'm not convinces that Jacks *only* found Good Boy, I think she used some magic to bring him back, but that is just my theory.
