I’m a sucker for a golden retriever MMC and a FMC who’s convinced she’s hard to love.

If You Need Me is the third book in the Toronto Terror series by Helena Hunting. When I tell you this author knows how to do hockey romance, she REALLY KNOWS how to do hockey romance. I wasn’t super sure what to expect with this installment of the series. Going into it, I wasn't sure how much I remembered of these two from the first two books. Book 1 is pretty insular and book 2 ventures out a little bit more, but I didn’t feel like I really knew who Hemi and Dallas were going in. Boy did that change right away. Our first real introduction to Dallas was him trying to talk down his anxiety boner. Yes, you read that right. It was so easy to fall in love with these characters.

This is your classic enemies to lovers, except the MMC has been in love with the FMC since the 3rd grade. He’s gone as far as to secretly try to make her life easier, while publicly, and not always knowingly making it worse. I should have known that a book that started on the first page with an anxiety boner was gonna come hard with the spice. Literally from the very start to the epilogue we were gifted with delicious tension and some… unexpected play.

If You Need Me also sets the scene for the next couple of books in this series. I can’t wait to get Roman’s book… That's going to be messy. And Flip’s book? Oof. Gimme gimme(insert grabby hands here).

What I do find confusing is the amount of “H” names in this series. We’ve got a Hemi, a Hammer(who’s real name is Aurora but answers to a slew of different names), a Hollis, and Hammerrstein. But because it’s hockey and the stories are just so darn good I’m willing to pretend like it doesn’t confuse me everytime I dive back into this Toronto Terror world.
