The Phantom of the Opera by Gaston Leroux

This one surprised me, in both good and unexpected ways. I wasn’t prepared for how goofy and almost comical parts of the book would feel, but it actually added a unique charm to the story. The first half was gripping and exciting to follow along, easily 4 stars on its own. Unfortunately, the second half lost some steam and felt like it dragged a bit. Overall, I’m rounding down to 3 stars, but overall not a bad read.
