One of the most comprehensive books I've ever finished. I sure as hell learned more about ancient history than all of my time spent in public school (says a lot). I especially loved the juxtaposition between East and West that is so central to this book, and I ended up learning so much more about Eastern history. I've definitely been inspired to look for some more books about that area of human history.
This book was a bit of a slog to get through (I ended up putting it down/not renewing it for like six months), but this is really to be expected when you're examining all of human history, and then some. The future predictions were sound to me, but I felt the last chapter was too much summary, and really could have gone into more detail on various likely scenarios. Overall, comprehensive and informative.
