The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V.E. Schwab

3.0

V.E Schwab can do no wrong (kind of).

While I was *sucked* into the premise within this novel, and could not put the book down as I was reading it, that was only due to the masterful writing of V.E Schwab and her ability to create lively settings and interesting characters. However... I felt that it lacked that little somethin' somethin' that I would need for this to be an exceptional read.

Namely, I needed it to be just a little bit more pragmatic and realistic about Addie's experience, because ultimately Addie felt one-dimensional and (just a little bit) on the dumb side to me. I mean, how do you live 300 years and only engage with like 3 countries and the same cultural ideas over and over?? How is it possible that the only culturally significant thing that you do is dabble with defying the nazi's, but ultimately flee when things get just a bit too spicy for you?? Addie, why is it that only european white boys made it into your canon of art, politics, philosophy?? You can 300 years Addie man
