Rereading for the second time after +10 years!

Even though I think I'd watched at least one of the movies when I was younger, it wasn't until I became a member at my public library, went on a quest to read some of the classics we don't read at school, and gave this series a chance that I actually became a Lord of the Rings fan and watched the movies with gusto.

Ironically, however, my love then leaned harder towards the movies (Fellowship of the Ring might be one of my most watched movies, if only because I like to put it in the background when I have three hours' worth of chores). So even though I eventually acquired my own copies of the books, they sat unopened in my shelves until... 2020, when I started with Fellowship.

Girl, that wasn't easy.

I'll admit that it was partly because my editions are in Spanish from Spain and use an archaic pronoun form and corresponding verb conjugation that nobody in LatAm uses and I personally think is horrendous, and a blight upon my reading experience. Another part is that I generally struggle with all rereads because I already know what's going on and have a thirst for reading Books I Haven't Read. But a third part was definitely all Tolkien, so it took me like a year to finish that.

Then I moved on to The Two Towers, because I owed it to Frodo to continue. This one went similarly slow for the first half of it, but I found the pace picked up significantly during Book Four, at which point I was enjoying it a lot. Now I'm really looking forward to rereading Return of the King while cursing all Spaniards for dominating the book translation market for so long even though I find it a personal offense that we're being forced to read the way vosotros hablais. But first, I think a Two Towers rewatch is due.

If I were to get drunk right now, I'd be sobbing "I love you Frodo!! I love you Sam!! I love you Faramir!! there's still good in the world!!"
