The Amalfi Curse by Sarah Penner
4.0
adventurous emotional mysterious reflective tense medium-paced
Plot or Character Driven: A mix
Strong character development: Yes
Loveable characters: Complicated
Diverse cast of characters: No
Flaws of characters a main focus: No

The book drew me in immediately. I stayed up most of two nights reading it with great excitement, but then it fell flat about 3/4 of the way through. The present-day storyline didn’t make complete sense to me (I understood the plot, I just didn’t understand why
Enzo’s mother chose the use her magic in the ways she did)
and the ending itself felt rushed.

That said, this is a great beach book. I went snorkeling just after finishing it and thought about the sea witches as I swam. That part will stick with me. And an irrelevant point: I absolutely love the cover!
