I am once again astonished by Miriam Toews ability to craft a story full of characters as far removed from myself as can be, yet whose thoughts and feelings and sins and pains grapple my heart the way they do.

Irma Voth is an astonishing tale about freedom. What does it mean and how do we seek it? I found myself gripped by the twist of the story and its people, and even now, after have just finished reading it, I ache to discover it again and experience it anew.
