The Ones We're Meant to Find by Joan He

The last time I read sci-fi was in January with "Project Hail Mary" by Andy Weir, I know it's not long ago, but still didn't avoid the fact that my brain was almost on fire trying to understand this complex world-building and featured with dual pov storytelling. But it DID feel familiar at the same time with Marie Lu's "Warcross" that I read back in 2017. And true it is Joan He had mentioned contacting Marie Lu a long time ago and a lot of reader feels the same connection and the similarity between this book and "Warcross".

But as a separate identity from Marie Lu's book, "The Ones We're Meant to Find" is so good at exploring the deep human connection that is shared between the two sisters, Celia and Kasey. It was beautiful, full of longing to be close to the only person who could understand you and wanted to protected you from the evil of the world. Just absolute sibling goals.

This book also deeply explores the climate change topic, natural disasters, and how it affects the human race. Even tho, yes, the whole technology part can be a little bit hard to digest, especially with the dual pov happened between the two sisters who live in completely two different settings, as a dive more into the book, it starts to make sense a little and more. But, well, as long as the whole book worked, eventually it will all make sense inside of my brain.
