The Reaper by Nikki J. Summers

4.0

As a follow up to The Psycho I would say this had all the right ingredients for me to fall in love with it. Yet, I felt it didn’t quite turn out the way I had anticipated it to. There were some parts of this story that felt a little repetitive and at times the pacing would fall behind a bit.

Even so, I give this book 4 stars. Devon’s (MMC) backstory was really dark and it pulled me in right away by the brutality he was exposed to as a young boy. I loved that Leah May (FMC) was peculiar and it was a reverse stalker romance. The poetic symbolism between The Reaper and The Raven was beautiful (The Reaper being Devon and The Raven being Leah May). Once the spice got going, it was everything I’d expect of a soldier from Brinton Manor. Leah May’s dark side in the bedroom took me by surprise, but I felt it made sense for her character. My only complaint is I wish the voyeurism was expanded on more, I feel that it would have been a way to carve out more of Leah May and Devons unique relationship; since they have such a long history even if it’s unbeknownst to Devon for a time.

Also, I felt that the voices that Leah May heard could have had more screen time (just my opinion, it may not even be on anyone else’s radar).

Overall, Devon and Leah May’s story was tender and beautiful. Had some sweet moments, had some spicy moments, and of course there were twists thrown in here. And lastly, I loved seeing more of Adam, Olivia, and of course Tyson.
