When the Moon Hatched by Sarah A. Parker
3.0
This book had fantastic world-building settings, magic systems, and plot twists! The problem I had with this book was its pacing, character development, motivation, and voice. I had to push myself to read, and I got hooked on chapter 23 when I felt like things were finally starting to move (plot wise).
Every character sounded like the main one, but with a different kind of angst. It would've really helped me as a reader if each had their own background and story. I'm not saying she had to dive deep into side character developments, but it would've felt more real to me if she kind of sneaked in some kind of background.
But Act III is when things really took off, plot twists were revealed, and she ended it on a great cliff hanger. While I understand fantasy is on the longer side of storytelling, I still wished I had a crumb trail to follow to get me excited to turn the page.
