The Fugitive by Marcel Proust

3.0

Proust focuses on grief this time around. Well, focuses as much as Proust can focus. Meaning: there is an intense view of grief surrounded by a lot of the usual melodrama.

I recently listened to a review of Proust and the reviewer asked “are people reading Proust out of investing in these characters? Or for the writing?” I was so happy to hear that because I have been here for the writing since day one.

That being said, this books gets the three stars for piling up a whole lot of bow ties on stories/characters in the final chapter… that I just didn’t need.

Also, this is the shortest book of the seven volumes and it took me the longest.
