Booked on a Feeling
by Jayci Lee
I was so excited to receive an ARC for Booked on a Feeling from St. Martin’s Press! It sounded like the adorable Rom-Com I needed in my life.
Spoiler free part:
Lizzy is a lawyer burnt out from her job and living in LA. Jack works with his family and is trying to figure out what his dream is. Two main characters I find incredibly relatable as I navigate my 20s and corporate America. The characters are probably why I stuck with the book (Lizzy - I love a to-do list almost as much as you!). Compared to the other two companion novels, this one took slow burn quite, well, slow. And the MC’s journeys felt too separate to be cohesive. I understand the set up was needed since we hadn’t been introduced to Lizzy in the first two books, but I think the first 150 pages needed a little pep in their step. Once the romance part of the friends to lovers romance started, I ate this book up and loved the chemistry and relationship between the two characters.
Overall, I enjoyed the latter half of the sweet romance and would now like to quit my job and start running an independent bookstore. I would recommend this light rom com to people, even those who might not always like the friends to lovers trope. It’s not my favorite but I feel like it was tastefully well done in Booked on a Feeling.

I loved the set up of the whole ‘But where will they end up?’. We knew it would be LA or Weldon, and each city was a possibility! Not just thrown in there for shits and giggles. It actually had me guessing until the end, which is rare for a romance.
I think Jack’s lack of confidence and insecurities should have been better explained towards the beginning? I just felt that we truly didn’t understand why he was so hesitant to go after this woman he’s loved for YEARS until the end, and it’s more of a hinderance on his character. But damn, if he isn’t romantic.
