The Deep
by Nick Cutter
I had no idea what to expect from this book, was it purely psychological, was there truth to the horrors described, it went to places I didn't expect - it's very well written and it got it's hooks into me early, Nick Cutter's writing is like a sticky inviting sap, lulling you into a false sense of security, and by the time you realise it's going to a dark, horrific, claustrophobic place, you're way too deep to stop. I did not expect the ending to go the way it did, my only complaint was the last 100 pages could easily have been condensed down, but tbh it kind of fit the torturous nature of the story. This book made me extremely uncomfortable, very claustrophobic, and had me gasp, laugh, and cry. If you're into horror, an automatic recommend, but be warned it's not a pretty journey
