I don't usually read anything with a man's chest/torso as the cover. not completely a "judging the book by its cover" situation but more so "I've been burned before." I've tried not judging based on the cover only to read a book and realize I definitely shouldn't have.
This, however, was a delightful read. I thoroughly enjoyed reading Theo and Jade's dynamic. Jade chooses the only man she finds attractive in an unfamiliar alien ritual and Theo is shocked that someone so beautiful would pick him, it drives him to act paranoid and idiotic. I mostly read this because I saw a video that mentioned Jade not knowing Theo understood English, which led to a funny reveal after she said something to him she assumed he wouldn't understand. Excited to read the rest of the series and desperate to find out what happens to certain other characters.
Also, I've seen some people describe this as Grumpy x Sunshine but Jade isn't... Sunny. She's fiery and quick to snap back at any rudeness. I'd say it's more Grumpy x Doesn't Take Bullshit, which is made better by how Theo was such a softie for her!! He's still def an anti-hero type character, very willing to get his hands dirty for her sake.
