Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare

4.0

I know in my heart of hearts that this is truly more of a 3.5/5 stars.

But I can't remember the last time a book like this stole my attention and prevented me from living my life (no, really -- there were so many other things I should've done today, and just didn't because I was so engrossed in this book).

Did I find the book sometimes overlong? Yes. Were the characters all unbearably heroic and good? Yes. Were the descriptions of love sometimes so long and lengthy and overdone that I had to put the book down several times? Good God, yes.

Doesn't really matter in the end, does it, though? I still finished an almost 700-page book in two days. Despite its length, martyrdom and insta-love.

I don't know how she does it, but now I have to finish the series -- I simply must.
