28 Days: Moments in Black History That Changed the World by Charles R. Smith Jr.

4.0

28 Days. One for each day in February, Black History Month. I don't know if the title is meant to be facetious. There are so many figures and moments that define the U.S.'s history, but the author chose to feature 28. Each chapter starts with the "moment" and then offers a bit more information about its central figure.

It is a good little book, but almost all of the moments are well-known. As a teacher, what I look for in these kinds of picture books are hidden figures whose stories are just coming to light. However, I am a middle school teacher now, was I teaching Kindergarten again, this might be a book I'd use.
