Binti by Nnedi Okorafor

3.0

At less than 100 pages, Binti is packed with tons of creativity, and I loved the world Nnedi Okorafor created. Binti herself as a character is sympathetic and relatable, while also giving us an insight into a human culture that can still at times seem "alien" to many of us. On the downside, perhaps due to the length, I felt that the events of the story were quite rushed, and some things that could have done with more explanation or exploration were brushed over too quickly. I'm definitely going to continue the series, though, and hope that the longer length of the subsequent books helps with this aspect.
