Waste Wars: The Wild Afterlife of Your Trash by Alexander Clapp
informative
4.0
Living in a society where consumerism is rampant and throw-away culture reigns, we don't often think about what happens to the things we toss. Alexander Clapp takes us on a journey around the world to see where our waste ends up and the circuitous routes it sometimes takes. It's amazing to see and understand what and how many livelihoods in developing countries rely on waste products mostly from developed and modernized countries. It's also incredibly depressing to know that all our efforts to "reduce, reuse, recycle" might make us feel better about our actions, but might not actually amount to much. I learned a lot, but taking the next steps to figure out what to do is daunting!
