Act of Surrender by Mandy M. Roth

5.0

Dr. James Hagen has been missing and off the grid for 10 years, due to a mistake he made as a member of PSI-Ops. He is rescued by the teams after being held prisoner and tortured by the corporation for a year

He is hooked to online chat with GothGirl, who is actually a hacktivist he is supposed to be using as a mark. He is still dealing with the physical (he still doesn't seem to healing as fast as he should) and psychological trauma but he has, however, started opening up to GothGirl about some of his problems.

Laney aka GothGirl is a hacker extraordinaire, with skills that are not quite human and is a friend of Dr.Mercy. Laney has files hacked from the corporation about subject p87, who was James. She has also discovered she was part of the Asia Project.

PSI-Ops is a spinoff of the Immortal Ops series. I can't recommend both series enough. These books are shorter length and great to fill in a lunch hour at work. But that does not make them fluff. They have excellent story arc and characters. The banter between James, Striker and Boomer and even with their boss, Corbin, is downright funny and reminds me of colleagues at work who have known each other for too damn long!!!

Damn you Mandy, I cannot get "the milkshake that brings everyone to the yard" out of my head!!!!!!! One ginger, Scottish, Kilted wolf is my new fictional hottie!!!! My new favourite saying is BLOODY-ENGLISH-?@:>l{@- WHO- TRIED-TO STEAL-MY COUNTRY. LOL
