The Bear and the Nightingale by Katherine Arden

5.0

This book completely hooked me in and I want to read more on Russian fairy tales and general books having to do with Russia.

It was a slow start and that's probably because the language and pronunciation of the translated words felt heavy on my tongue and in my mind but once I got the way of the words, I blew right threw this and loved every minute of the characters, the pacing, and the world that Arden presented.

Vasya is such a character; strong, smart, willful, stubborn yet very much a child and not. She's a believer of deities in a world that is changing every day with the arrivals of new people and a religion that can easily consume and Arden captured it all beautifully that it was hard to put down and even now with it over, I still find myself wanting to pick it back up.

I believe Arden has gotten herself another fan!
