The Devil has come for you! For your blood and for your bones!”

Slewfoot is a tale of bewitchery and oh what a tale it is! Abitha, shipped off to the New World to marry, has a hard time conforming to the Puritan way of living. So when cries of devilry are made and her brother-in-law bears jealousy toward her, it is no surprise when she is accused of witchcraft.

This is what- a folk horror revenge story? One that is told like a fairytale and leaves you questioning just who is truly the devil here.

“Angels must often do dark deeds in the name of the Lord.”

Abitha is a well-written character and a delight to read! I found myself attached to her very quickly, a but all of the characters are well done in this book and truly believable. They incite both rage and empathy within you and make this a hard book to put down.

Slewfoot absolutely deserves 5 stars! I’ll be looking into more works by this author.
