onekat 's review for:
Fright Night
by Maren Stoffels
I really didn't like this book. Each chapter is a different person's perspective, but it gets confusing as it may be any one of four or five different people. I don't even think it goes in order.
It takes forever to set the scene, and even when the scene is set and all the backstories have been discussed, you feel like you're missing a lot.
The twist is rubbish. I won't spoilt it, but I'm sure if you scroll to another review someone else has spoiled it. It was so, um, well, contrived and too just much for how little backstory was given.
I've said this about a few books but it also applies here: It feels like this book was written for an english exam at school and the author was running out of time so just rushed the ending because putting "to be continued" would give them bad marks. Though for 167+ pages, this shouldn't have been an issue.
