ok, so an interesting concept but I wanted more buildup and eeriness to make it more suited for the “horror” novel that it’s billed as. It seemed like it wanted to lean more into the physiological element, but it didn’t have enough depth to reach it. It was honestly a bit boring.

also there’s so much discussion in reviews for this about the aspect of animal cruelty/death and I think that’s for a larger conversation about how people love reading about human cruelty and death (both true crime and fiction) but care more for animals which makes it more taboo? It’s just interesting to consider how people consider true crime more palatable than fiction animal death that didn’t even occur on the page. But I digress.

There was another piece of this regarding women’s healthcare and the dismissal of women’s problems by doctors which I think could have been expanded on.

I also really don’t know what I was supposed to take away from this? It kept hinting at something more happening but never reached anything so it just left you with nothing.
