When I rate and review a book one of things I look at is how long it took me to finish the book. I started this book on a Sunday and finished it on a Thursday. That's a super long time to read a book in my life. I can read 4-5 books a week, even when I'm working. That's one of the reasons this was a 3 STAR read for me.
The book was actually good just a wee bit boring for me. I've read plenty of slow burn books but this one took the cake for me. The storyline, the characters, the imagery was pretty, pretty good, but the that spark missing for me.
I loved Willow, our heroine. She was just a sweetheart. I also loved Isaac, our hero. His history and story made me want to jump in the book and give him loads and loads of kisses and cuddles. They were super cute together. They just weren't exciting. They were just. . .there. I kept wishing something would happen. Nothing really happened for me until I was close to the end of the book and by then, I was over it.
There were a number of important social topics that were tackled and done beautifully. I've always loved that about Emma Scott's writing. She focuses on character development through life as well as romance.
I love Emma Scott and whatever she writes, I will read - no matter what.
