This was utterly fantastic; I laughed, I cried, I highlighted a million passages, and I’m truly obsessed with Eddie. What a character who was made for Me. The banter and chemistry between him and Mark was so strong and so delightful it had me flailing every 5 seconds. I loved all the supporting characters too and the world felt so rich and fleshed out in such a satisfying way.

The way this book dealt with grief was done so well, it was wonderful having George there as someone who Mark could relate to being a widower, and the scene where Mark finds the cocktail cherries William had bought for him made me cryyy. I also loved the way it navigated the issues of being queer in a time where you couldn’t be open about it, as much as you wish they could be. All the way from the start, with Mark and Eddie bonding over books with queer (sub)text, to them carefully coming out to people and how that also intersects with the way Mark deals with his grief…oof it was just so good.
