Cari Mora by Thomas Harris
4.0
I was quite excited about this book and it was the last book I bought in 2019. I wouldn't say I loved it, but it wasn't completely what I expected. I guess I wanted more from the characters.
Cari Mora is one of the main characters, and I wanted to know a lot more about her. I loved her from the very beginning, because there was this mystery around her. Which made it interesting for me to uncover. Until the very end she was full of surprises and my brain wanted more of her story.
But the bad guy... I have mix feeling about him and the crew. I like to connect with the characters even the bad guys. And although I found out a lot about him, his past, his mind, is crazy attitudes... I still didn't get him the way I did with Hannibal in Silence of the Lambs. And I love a good villain. I just wanted to explore more.
Maybe it was the all setting or plot that was causing a problem for me.
But still, overall I enjoyed it. It had a good concept. How doesn't like a good treasure hunt story, with lots of craziness, bad guys, murder and a woman in the middle that is a grey kind of character?
It did have some of those elements, but personally I was expecting some different. Maybe more depth in certain areas of the story and plot. I do know that if it had a bit more darkness, I would have probably loved it.
