A wonderful, slow-paced story. I love the way it portrays everyday life, and and the flawed but sympathetic young protagonist. Reminds me of both Laura Ingalls Wilder's Little House series (except without the racism lol) and Lloyd Alexander's Chronicles of Prydain.

The prose is top notch; deceptively simple, and absolutely captivating. I wish this book was more well known because it is really is incredible.
