Second Life by S.J. Watson
4.0

Having not read Before I Go To Sleep, I wasn't sure what to think going into this, and I'm glad. The book is full of unexpected twists, turns and journeys and any semblance of a spoiler would ruin it almost completely.

In general, I found the first 200 pages very slow going and difficult to care about, but the last 100 pages are an absolute whirlwind and I couldn't stop reading, even though it took me to the very early hours of the morning. I've never been as tense heading into the conclusion of a book, and the twists and revelations did not disappoint.

The ending, however, was infuriating. I expected to turn the page and find a final chapter, but that never happened. I thought that maybe it was an error in the proof copy I'd received, but that wasn't true either. It was simply a poorly executed and thoroughly irritating conclusion to what, otherwise, was an enjoyable, if slow-burning read.

Give it a go,but expect to throw your copy at the wall at the end.
