The Magic of Discovery by Britt Andrews

5.0

This book has launched me onto a new reading journey. I had heard great things about this series and author through a few Facebook groups that I am in, but for whatever reason, I didn't start reading it until a few weeks ago.

I am SO glad that I did. I have discovered another favorite author (of which I have a few), one that I will happily read any books which have her name as a byline, or at least give them a very good chance.

This series debut is very entrancing. For whatever reason, I normally multitask while reading, often with a tv show at the same time, or with me reading on commercial breaks. This book fully captivated my attention, to the point that I gave it 100% of my attention, and did not notice anything that was happening on my TV. This is something that doesn't happen to me very often, and makes me even more drawn to this book and the rest of the series.

This book ended on a cliffhanger, which can be done inadequately by some others, but Britt Andrews does it masterfully. I was still shocked when the story unexpectedly ended, but she somehow does it in such a way that I don't want to stop reading the series (which has happened to me before).

Saige lives in the idyllic small town of Emerald Lakes, where wielders of magic are commonplace, and newcomers are not. Although Saige loves her hometown and never plans to leave, her romantic opportunities are limited, especially with her abusive and controlling ex still nearby to threaten her and anyone that comes around. That is, until 4 men rent the apartment above Saige's witchy business-front. Soon, Saige finds herself going on dates and developing relationships with more than one of the men.

However, not all is tranquil in Emerald Lakes. There are unsettling prophecies being bandied about, Saige's abusive ex is stirring up trouble, and something odd is happening to Saige's magic.
