Strange book. I loved certain parts of it but zoned out completely during others.
Its SK so I knew what to expect- shitty writing of any marginalized person and lackluster bland ending. Checked those boxes.
Arnie and Dennis were really well written though. I always can appreciate SK's talent for writing earnest young white boys. Poor Arnie. Their friendship was the best part of this for me- them saying "i love you" really shocked me in a good way. Yes to vulnerability among boys!
Pulpy, a little silly, perfect amount of scary/gory, decent characters. The car genuinely scared me at some parts.
Holter Graham was an entrancing, incredible reader. He made this book a ton more engrossing. He brought these characters to life!
A decent read, especially amongst his early canon (esp after trying and failing to read Cujo and the Tommyknockers lmao)
