Dark Refuge by Angelina J. Steffort

The book picks right where the last one ended and what an adventure this one has been. I loved the new events happening between Taghi and McKenzie, and Miitra and Muriel are most likely part of a sapphic short story which I hope will be more developed in the next book because they’re such a vibe!!
There are also other characters who I feel gave a small hint of something going on between them but nothing is set in stone, but I hope they will because I love the diversity in Angelina’s books and I feel they will add such a different tone to the book.
The book this time hooked me from the get-go, Addie’s going through hell and back but the characters I’ve loved the most were Taghi and Mac, their story has been teasing us for a long time and we’re finally getting some action – nothing smutty, but a lot of tension, stolen glances, stolen smiles and so many sweet moments with beautiful quotes!!
The story even tho is over 400 pages was a quick and fast-paced read and I’ve enjoyed it to the max. I loved the new secrets coming to life, the lineage of Gandrett finally being revealed and the new step in the relationship between Gandrett and Nehelon moves to.
The story definitely has enemies to lovers, forbidden love, found family, found friendship, and fated mate trope. Even tho I’m not a big fan of the fated mate trope this trope was made really good in the book.
There are lots of plot twists in the book that made me lose my mind and the ending was definitely mind-blowing, and I’m really curious about how this series will end because there are so many things going on in all the corners of this book that makes it complex but easy to read and be such a nice story to follow.
