Coraline by Neil Gaiman

in his note about why he wrote Coraline, Gaiman talks about how Coraline is an adventure for children and a nightmare for adults, and that's exactly how i feel about it. so strange that i genuinely liked this movie when i was a kid, because -- what the fuck? that shit's scary as hell. i was reading it at 11am in the morning, and i was still scared by some scenes. it's weird, and it's dark, and it's haunting, and it never really leaves you. i just wish there were more of it, although i totally understand that's also not really the point of a children's book -- that doesn't stop me from wanting more.
