I liked this! I read it as part of a school book club/ book exchange thing and was drawn in because it’s gay, but I liked it for other reasons too. While the writing at times feels a little immature or cringey, it is definitely a page turner and I finished the book really quickly. But I also think a post-apocalyptic world with very few people left sets a really good theme for the communication of themes - morality, the importance of family, friendship and love, survival (both literal and psychological), power and the ways it manifests itself, etc.
