Another one that I've read countless times - but reading the reissued version felt like a totally new experience. I was disappointed to find a ton of copy editing errors - misspellings, odd commas, missing paragraph breaks, etc. I also was surprised to see so many exclamation points in the narration; for me that usually means the book is geared towards younger readers, who I think benefit from having the added emphasis. For a book aimed at 12+, I felt they got in the way of the story flowing.
Still, it's always interesting to come back to these as an adult and see what I missed as a kid: foreshadowing for future downfalls/conflicts, exploration of love and femininity, and the importance of supporting and respectful adults in the lives of kids and teens.

Graphic: Blood, Kidnapping, Injury/Injury detail
Moderate: Chronic illness, Death, Blood, Medical content, Kidnapping, Gaslighting, Injury/Injury detail
Minor: Toxic relationship, Death of parent
A mentor/mentee relationship is considered by some fans as a toxic relationship. A parent figure dies off page. There is magical gaslighting (characters are prevented from seeing/understanding what is happening to another)
