4.5

Insanely fast start, slams the brakes halfway to go through a long winded myth-fiction depicting language as a kind of code and the human mind being hackable, then shoots back to the narrative for our heroes to save the day.

A fun read if you can get through the midway exposition dump, and somewhat suspend your disbelief for some of its highly implausible brainhack ideas. It's filled with many off-the-wall cyberpunk ideas that have become increasingly prescient. No surprise, as many silicon valley types have read it and taken inspiration. If you're in the mood for some searingly fast, tongue in cheek sci-fi, this is a good one.
