I probably should have DNF’d this book. It really wasn’t for me - I think this is more a reflection on me and me figuring out what type of prose/writing I like in a book.

Unfortunately the entire book felt like a ramble. If I have to liken it to something, it felt very much like something a Year 11 drama class would come up with for their final exam piece. The entire thing felt pretentious, melodramatic and preachy without really getting to any real point.

Again, this is my viewpoint and I can appreciate that it may hit a completely different (correct!) nerve with others. However, this felt more like a poet trying to write a novel.

I’m so disappointed as the premise of the story really drew me in - it seemed so interesting to me when I read the blurb. Instead I was met with an unhinged, untethered, confusing novel that I did not enjoy at any point.
