Baum has written a fun, sweet origin story for Santa Claus, and it is a perfect read for the holiday season. It feels more like a fairy tale than a Christmas story, and if Baum has made Santa Claus a little too perfect, kind, and wonderful, well, that’s as it should be, right? I imagine this would be a nice chapter book to read with your children, especially if you could find an edition with good illustrations.
