Reckless Cruel Heirs by Olivia Wildenstein

4.0

I did not read the series prior to this book. I saw a post by the author about the book and said it was ok as a standalone, so I jumped in.

I have to say the world, the magic system, the words… they were confusing without having read the previous books. I just kinda breezed by this stuff after awhile. There was also a lot of references to the past generation in the previous books.

I did enjoy the book overall. I kinda felt like there wasn’t enough of the “bullying” part of the story? We’re told that Remo was hard on her during her childhood, but we don’t really see much of it. Because of that, the change of heart wasn’t as impactful as maybe it could have been.

The plot moved along at a good pace and the book was interesting enough. Olivia’s writing is enjoyable to me. This just wasn’t one of my favorite books from her.
