I'm not sure why some of the reviews on here are so harsh. It's a great book! Insightful and well-written, Wild gives you a good look into the surprises, monotony, danger, and beauty that make up the Pacific Crest Trail and the world around us. Cheryl is very relatable and yes, she's made some maybe-not-so-awesome decisions at times but she is honest about her feelings and what led her to make them, and even more importantly, her path to self-forgiveness and reconciliation. She tells a story which reminds you that maybe everything does happen for a reason and even the saddest of things might lead us to finding ultimate beauty, both within ourselves and in all that surrounds us.
